The UCLA School of Law launched two scholarship programs beginning in fall 2017 that will cover full tuition for students.
The school announced the scholarship programs on Oct. 25 and will fund both with the help of UCLA and donors. The school said in a statement that the new scholarships will be valued at about $140,000 over the course of a three-year program.

The school will award Law Distinguished Scholarships to qualified applicants who make a commitment to attend UCLA Law through an early-decision application process. For the next academic year, the application deadline is Jan. 1, 2017.
It will also award Law Achievement Fellowships to high-achieving applicants who have overcome significant hurdles in life such as socio-economic hardships, disabilities or other major challenges. According to a UCLA School of Law statement, Law Achievement Fellows are likely to be the first in their families to pursue a graduate or professional degree. For the next academic year, applicants have until Feb. 1, 2017 to apply.
Robert Schwartz, the school’s assistant dean for admissions and financial aid, said in a statement that UCLA Law is committed to giving students the opportunity of a lifetime.
“We’re here to educate students who are passionate about becoming great lawyers and leaders,” he said.
