The No. 33 UCLA men’s golf team finished 14th atthe Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate after shooting 25-over 889 last weekend.
Throughout the tournament, freshman Spencer Soosman matched or surpassed his teammates with performances of 1-under 71 in the first round, 4-over 76 in the second round and closed out with 1-under 71. Soosman had a total of 11 birdies and an eagle to end the competition as the top finisher for the Bruins – tied for 29th overall in the 90-golfer tournament.
Junior Tyler Collier also opened the first round shooting 1-under 71. Collier ended the round shooting for three birdies on the fourth, fifth and 12th rounds. The duo helped the team finish in 10th place for the first round.
UCLA was unable to hold itsspot in the top 10, and fell to 14th place in the second round, remainingtherefor the duration of the event.
No. 8 Virginia and No. 29 Texas tied for first place overall at the tournament. No. 12 Stanford and No. 21 USC finished in a tie for third.
For their next tournament, the Bruins travel to Northern California to participate in the Cypress Point Classic at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California.
