Students gathered in Meyerhoff Park Friday for the Send Silence Packing display. The display, organized by the UCLA chapter of Active Minds, featured empty backpacks lined on steps to raise awareness for suicide prevention. The nationally recognized exhibition of 1,100 donated backpacks represents the number of college students that commit suicide each year. Active Minds is a national organization that aims to educate students about mental health and work toward suicide prevention.
