Westwood Village’s farmers market plans to use more space on Broxton Avenue and increase its number of vendors.

The Westwood Village Improvement Association met with the Los Angeles fire marshal Oct. 11 to discuss how they can safely expand the market. The Westwood Village Farmers Market invites vendors to sell produce and other goods Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The fire marshal said the market can set up more tents for vendors on Broxton Avenue as long as it keeps the fire lane open for emergency vehicles.

Andrew Thomas, executive director of the association, said the farmers market plans to add vendors who sell organic produce and fresh flowers. The new sellers will be joining current vendors, including Arnett Farms, Tenerelli Orchards, Frontier Kettle Korn and Zozo’s Fresh Juice.

Zozo’s owner Seth Bateman said he thinks expanding the market and adding vendors will make the market more successful.

“Creative individuals will bring new things to the market,” Bateman said.

Thomas said he thinks the expansion will help attract people beyond the market’s existing customer base. He added he thinks it will also bring more customers to Westwood Village businesses.

“People will become clients of our dry cleaners or have lunch in our restaurants,” Thomas said. “People will spend money and hang out in Westwood more.”

Thomas added that the association will meet with the market’s operations manager to discuss which vendors to add to the market.
