Student groups can now apply to several funding applications through a centralized portal.
Heather Hourdequin, undergraduate student government internal vice president, said her office worked to consolidate five funding applications into one site to streamline the student group funding process. Funding applications are organized by their deadlines to make it easier for student groups to keep track of them, she added.
Hourdequin said she hopes the website allows student groups to explore different funding sources available to them.
“USAC is currently in a funding crisis, and the contingency funds are heavily being applied to,” she said. “Hopefully this access will allow students to recognize other bodies.”
Student groups can apply to the Capital Contingency Fund, Community Service Mini Fund, Contingency Programming Fund, Student Organizations Operational Fund and the USA-ASUCLA Programming Fund through the website, Hourdequin said.
She added student groups can still utilize the current application process. Organizations apply for funding two to three weeks before an event, and the undergraduate student government council evaluates the proposal before allocating however much funding it decides is appropriate.
Hourdequin said her office aims to create a feature that allows student groups to input characteristics of the events they want to fund, to figure out which funding sources they qualify for.
So… where is the portal?
