Water main break to cause temporary water reduction in North Village

Water service to apartments in the North Village and some buildings on campus will be reduced following a water main break Tuesday afternoon.

A crew is currently fixing a 12-inch pipe that burst underneath Veteran Avenue and Strathmore Drive, said Kim Hughes, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She said she did not know about when the leak would be fixed.

UCLA officials said in a press release that they do not anticipate any damages to buildings on campus, but that LADWP will cut water service to some buildings Tuesday evening.

Students living in university apartments received an email that said their water service will be reduced or cut off for about 8 hours during repairs.

Part of Strathmore Drive is temporarily closed to traffic, while Veteran Avenue remains open, according to the press release.
