A black cat has stalked the grounds of Powell Library since last summer but continues to ignore the UCLA cat management program’s tuna bait.

The program, established in 1989 to control the feral cat population on campus, has since reduced the stray cat population on campus from 350 cats in the 1980s to about 10 today.

“(The Powell Cat) has a big fan club,” said Dennis Lyday, student affairs officer. “That’s the only cat we know we’re feeding that a student would even be likely to see.”

Taimie Bryant, a professor in the UCLA School of Law, was one of the founding members of the cat management program in 1989. She said there were about 350 cats living on campus at the program’s inception, based on veterinarian records from that year.

Lyday said he manages water and dry food distribution three to four times a week to each of the three on-campus feeding sites and occasionally recruits new volunteer members.

The management program is based on the trap-neuter-return method, or TNR, Bryant said. The organizers locate new cats on campus, bait them with tuna into cages and take them to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered. The cats are either adopted or returned to where they were found.

Bryant said the cats were safety hazards because they would walk on surrounding roads and sometimes cause car accidents. She added they were often subjects of cruelty, and has encountered cats that have been spray painted.

Bryant said she felt motivated to start the program after the UCLA School of Law fumigated the building, poisoning and killing about 30 cats.

“There were scores of (cat) bodies under the building,” Bryant said.

Bryant said UCLA Facilities Management cooperated with the program by providing details of facility infrastructure, and student and faculty volunteers managed daily feedings. She added the program eventually became effective in preventing hazardous situations, like the fumigation, for animals living on campus.

“It brought people together to humanely deal with an issue plaguing the university,” Bryant said.

Lyday began to run the program in 2008 and operates it with about 12 other UCLA staff and faculty volunteers.

Bryant said the TNR method, was new in the 1980s. She added she thinks it provided an alternative to previously unsuccessful extermination attempts and allowed volunteers to be directly involved in animal safety.

“People would sabotage the traps before because they didn’t want the cats to be killed,” Bryant said. “TNR was the only course we could have taken and gotten that kind of support.”

Each feeding site has a “critter cam,” an overnight video camera that shows about two to three cats using each facility daily, Lyday said. The cameras also reveal intruders, such as raccoons, squirrels and birds.

Lyday said he could not disclose the three feeding locations, hidden in areas on the main campus, because volunteers have had problems with vandalism in the past. He added he thinks people vandalize the area because they do not agree with the TNR management method.

Phillip Linson, a first-year applied mathematics student, has encountered the Powell Cat several times since last quarter.

Linson, who comes from a town that also has a large stray cat population, said he thinks the TNR method is effective because it prevents the cat population from growing without harming the animals.

Lyday said he thinks the method is successful, despite some controversy regarding TNR, because it limits the number of new cats born and allows volunteers to focus their efforts on finding homes for those that remain.

“With the help of a resident director, we were able to trap six kittens as well as their mom on the Hill,” Lyday said. “We had the mother spayed … and were able to get all six kittens adopted.”

The cat management program works with Kitten Rescue, an established cat adoption program in Los Angeles, and a veterinarian, Lyday said. UCLA volunteers, the veterinarian and the adoption agency determine whether a cat has gone feral or human-avoidant, and whether it is potentially harmful.

Bryant said pet abandonment has decreased but is still present at UCLA. She added those who abandon pets are liable for criminal charges of cruelty, which she said could deter people from entering professional fields later, such as graduate school.

“The death an animal faces after being abandoned is sometimes worse than death in an animal shelter,” Bryant said.

Lyday said the Powell Cat began to show up on the east side of Powell Library last summer. The cat was likely the result of pet abandonment because he is friendly and approaches students and faculty members.

Despite the Powell Cat’s frequent visits to students outside the library, Lyday and his cat management team have been unable to trap the cat because it has not responded to tuna baiting. Lyday said they will seek alternate methods.

Lyday said there is a home ready to foster the Powell Cat if the program successfully traps it.

“Even though he’s a popular boy, we would love to … find him a real home,” Lyday said.

  1. So UCLA engages in cruelty to cats, interesting. TNR is the ultimate cruelty, used by lazy people who like to think of themselves as rescuers. Rescue means taking them in from the cold, working with them, not leaving them to the devices of the world. Cars, neighborhood punks, coyotes, cougars love TNR, it provides entertainment and food. Of all those cats, did Bryant once think what happened to them? Probably not, she subscribes to No Kill, a vile and evil movement that has harmed far more animals than was necessary. And the motto of No Kill is outta sight, outta mind. As long as Bryant doesn’t have to see them as a wet spot on the road or torn to pieces and eaten, she’s good to go.

    1. Didn’t read the article? Ignored the parts where it says they find homes for most of the kitties trapped, and only when they’re unable to find a home do they release a (now-neutered) kitty back where they trapped it? You’re absolutely wrong about TNR, and all reputable studies support its efficacy.

      1. LOL, reputable studies? You haven’t read any when it comes to TNR except for the bought and paid for by Alley Cat Allies, biased. All scientific info points to the harm being done by cats, the diseases carried by cats. Obviously you failed to read those reports. TNRrealitycheck, google it.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has stated that “…the reduction in the total number of free-roaming cats these programs will effect is insignificant.”

The National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians has stated that “There is no evidence that colony management programs will reduce diseases…”

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has stated, “Having witnessed firsthand the gruesome things that can happen to feral cats, we cannot in good conscience advocate trapping and releasing as a humane way to deal with overpopulation.”

And to that, I have to assume that you care nothing for cats since you seem to support this cruelty inflicted by the TNR movement.

        1. Okay Harve, I DID Google TNRrealitycheck. What I found was a fanatical anti-cat (like you) organization that misstatements and misuses many of the references that it sites. My argument is that TNR works to reduce the populations of feral cats. That is a fact, that if you bothered to actually read THIS article, is supported by the fact that the use of TNR on the UCLA campus has resulted in the reduction of feral cats from 350 in 1989 when the program started, to 10 today. Similar results have been reported from around the world. Practically all the references sited by TNRrealitycheck are not only anecdotal, but were produced by non-scientific entities like local city councils with biases, vested interests and conflicts driving their pre-formed conclusions against TNR.

Also, a significant majority of studies & reports sited by TNRrealitycheck have little or nothing to do with whether TNR actually works to reduce feral cat populations, but rather deal with issues like what communicable diseases are carried by cats (chiefly Toxoplasmosis, which incidentally, can be and is carried by MANY animals, including some, rats for example, whose populations are presumably negatively impacted by the presence if cats), the (highly debated) effects of predation by cats, and even studies of predation by other carnivores (mostly coyotes) ON cats. These are all meant to as a scare tactic to misdirect the public and to reinforce the false logic that “cats are bad, so trying to be humane to cats must be bad too.”

Contrary to your wild allegation that Alley Cat Allies “bought & paid for” the many scientific studies supporting the effectiveness of TNR, they come from scientists, veterinary groups and universities worldwide, and are reported in reputable, independent, peer reviewed scientific journals They actually deal with the central issue of whether TNR works to reduce feral cat populations and conclude based on the scientific evidence that indeed it does. The evidence also indicates that extermination efforts (poison, etc.), trapping & euthanasia as well as the extremely expensive & impractical trapping, socializing & adopting out unsocialized feral which TNRrealitycheck insincerely suggests it advocates do not work.

It’s interesting to note that the overwhelming majority of animal humane groups support & advocate TNR. Most of the animal special interest groups who oppose it are wild bird-related groups who believe that predation by outdoor cats, both, feral & pets, is largely responsible for declines in wild bird populations. But this belief is mistakenly based on a few widely disputed studies that have been roundly criticized by scientists & mathematicians for having used grossly unscientific & improper statistical methods.

          It’s notable that

And by the way, again– If you bothered to read the article, you’d know that the UCLA group HAS in fact placed most of the cats & kittens it has trapped, vaccinated & neutered into homes, which TNRrealitycheck claims is its preferred method of feral cat population management, anyway, so what’s your beef? Or are you just a hypocrite?

It’s interesting to note that the overwhelming majority of animal humane groups support & advocate TNR. Most of the animal special interest groups who oppose it are wildlife & wild bird-related groups who believe that predation by outdoor cats, both, feral & pets, is largely responsible for declines in wild bird populations. But these groups mistakenly rely on a few widely disputed studies that have been roundly criticized by scientists & mathematicians for having used grossly unscientific & improper statistical methods.

It’s notable that according to wikipedia, “In the UK [where incidentally & ironically, the first and most widely sited of these hotly disputed studies was conducted], The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds stated that there is no evidence that cat predation ‘is having any impact on bird population UK-wide’.” (Parenthetical mine.).

I DO care about cats. While I strongly advocate that all cat owners neuter & vaccinate their pets and always keep them indoors, and while I agree that living or even spending short periods outdoors is dangerous and not a good life for cats, I disagree that the preferable answer to feral cat population management is the even more cruel wholesale eradication of these animals– not when the humane & proven successful method of TNR is available.

Here are links to both Alley Cat Allies’ & TNRrealitycheck’s references pages to compare & contrast the various studies & sources published as well as unpublished, upon which each relies. Also included is a link to the wikipedia article on TNR that, along with much other info & references, lists the various organizations that support each school of thought.

          1. LOL, anti-cat huh? Far from it, I love cats and therefore I refuse to allow them to stay where they are hit by cats, eaten by coyotes or cougars, tortured by neighborhood punks. You are the one who allows them to suffer this way. And wikipedia as a source? That is indeed laughable.

And you are the one locked into the killing method, not me. I support TNR, Trap, Neuter, And RETAIN. Cat enclosures are nice aren’t they? Build them in your yard, be a true rescuer and bring them in from the cold. That is the solution. Now come back and tell me that this can’t be done. It can’t be done only because people are too lazy and not willing to do it.

          2. Can you spell “Hoax” & “Fraud”?

These TNR cat-lickers (criminal outdoor-cat-hoarders) who re-spew all the highly manipulative and deceptive lies and misinformation of Alley-Cat-All-Lies didn’t do their due-diligence research.

Here’s the very first link that any of their followers and supporters should have checked out.

(It looks like Alley-Cat-All-Lies forced BBB to take down the original pages (for being outdated?), to no-doubt run from proof of all their past activities, but these web-archive pages still exist. 🙂 It appears that BBB refuses to re-evaluate them, and for good reason, the first decade was ENOUGH PROOF! Or is it because “Alley Cat ALL LIES” doesn’t want anyone to see their financial reports anymore? Read on …)

They don’t even meet the criteria to qualify for being a reputable charity organization under “Better Business Bureau” standards. While Becky and all her close friends are laughing all the way to the bank to the tune of over $5M in assets with more than a $7M yearly income. (Their 2013 financial report puts their income at well over $7.2M. No sign of any further financial reports from them for two to three years since this has become widely known. What are they hiding?)

They all flew to Hawaii in the fall of 2013 for another “cat-conference” because, for some unknown reason, they had to be there to discuss these issues. I wonder how many cats could have been saved from freezing to the pavement each winter from the price of all their flights and lodging and luxurious food, drink, and entertainment in Hawaii? But these TNR group-leaders were so warm and having so much fun! For 2014 they partied in Atlantic-City, Reno, and Vegas! No doubt feeding slot-machines and gyrating g-strings with everyone else’s money. (In 2015 Becky winter-vacationed in Australia!! LOL)

For another good laugh check out how much Becky and her friends have been paying themselves with everyone else’s money.

According to their 2012 Income-Tax “Form 990”, each of their top employees get paid anywhere from 150,000 to 185,000 dollars PER YEAR. “Not for profit”, my àŝŝ!

Or their 2013 report for more of the same. 🙂 alleycat.Org/file/2013_990_ACA.pdf

They have been launching some damage-control with their “Future Five” program to prove to everyone their true and trustworthy intentions. Awarding a princely 5,000 dollar grant to some deserving group. 5,000 dollars is less than 0.1% of their assets, 0.07% of their 2013 income. They might as well just shîť in the face of every last fool that ever donated to them.

Support yet another organization that exploits and perpetuates the suffering of animals for their own personal financial gain, then try to sleep well at night.

This is even more “rich”. I recently discovered that anyone who posts a request for financial help on Alley-Cat-All-Lies pages is then referred to this page of theirs: alleycat.Org/economy

Not ONE link on that page refers to getting actual financial help from Alley-Cat-All-Lies themselves. And even more rich, their very first resource that they send people to, to feed their feral cats, is a national food-bank organization where people donate food to feed needy humans. They are taking the food out of the mouths of needy human infants to feed their diseased vermin cats.

I don’t think I’ve seen a sadder and more sorry and despicable case of “charity” in my whole life before this.

Oh wait, that’s right. I forgot. You MUST throw cats out into the streets with Becky Robinson’s TNR programs so they get ran-over by cars or attacked by other cats or other animals, get eaten from the inside-out by parasites or die any other of the myriad heinous and inhumane ways that nearly every last TNR cat dies from “loving attrition”. Then when you find them suffering to death from TNR’s “humane death by attrition”, you can parade them in the media to ask for even more $millions in donations to line your own pockets. This is why HSUS and SPCA loves TNR so much too. You can’t exploit suffering cats for millions of dollars if you humanely euthanize them first! Oh no, you need them to die publicly in the streets if you are going to get any money from cats. It’s the ONLY value they have now — to suffer to death so those who exploit them can get wealthy.

It’s the new money-making scam! Torture cats to death with TNR and then as they die-off from “attrition” exploit them in the media for even more money! You too can become a deceptive, manipulative, and morally reprehensible multimillionaire by following this animal-torturing business-model invented by Becky Robinson! (Add-in their relentless cyber-bullying tactics that they have used to get highly illegal TNR programs into every place where they exist today and you even have yourself a good ol’ case of RACKETEERING. Ripe for picking by The Feds. May they all rot in prison for LIFE.)

For a bonus, read what all of Becky’s past and present employees have to say about her and how she desperately needs some court-ordered mental-health treatment. LOL

      2. Want some glaring evidence of TNR’s efficacy in reducing cat populations? The whole concept of TNR was invented in the UK in the 1950’s. They have been practicing TNR in a concerted and relentless nationwide effort for over 60 years now, over half of a century. Along WITH still destroying cats in animal shelters and also shooting them to death by using animal depredation-control laws. Using all these methods all this time, here are the results of how much their oft-spewed “magic” TNR solution has managed to help reduce their vermin cat populations since its nationwide inception over half of a century ago:

The UK cat population has risen from 4.1 MILLION in 1965 to 7.9 MILLION in 2014.

They have managed to DOUBLE their vermin cat populations after TNR has been implemented there as a NATIONWIDE program.

Here too are the results of what you can expect from using any species-conservation policies that have come from the UK populace (the originators of that TNR lunacy):

England’s lost world: 421 species – including mammals, birds and plants – have become extinct over the past 200 years
        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2568524/Englands-lost-world-421-species-including-mammals-birds-butterflies-extinct-past-200-years.html

That’s more than 2 species PER YEAR **MADE** **EXTINCT** by British cultural beliefs, practices, and values.

For a bonus, add-in the last handful of UK’s one-and-only native cat species, the Scottish Wildcat, presently being made extinct with their very own invasive-species “moggie” house-cats. With an estimated less than 35 Scottish Wildcats left in the world, while they still insist that their TNR promotion and practice on their invasive-species vermin moggies will save their one-and-only native Scottish Wildcat from extinction. Kiss their Scottish Wildcat goodbye from the world too — FOREVER. The irony is laughable if it weren’t so pathetically sad.

It looks like the people in Australia have the strength-of-heart, wisdom, and intelligence to do what is right instead of what the inhabitants of Great Britain have caused from their own self-absorbed ignorance, spinelessness, foolishness, and stupidity.

        1. “Vermin?” Wow. I guess we can see where YOUR bias lies. “TNR Researcher?” Exactly what research have you conducted? What are your scientific qualifications? Have you been published? If so, in what journals? What research institution(s) count you as a faculty/staff member? Who funds your research? Or are you just another guy (like the one above) who happens to be a cat-hater and who Googled “TNR” and read a few articles posted on anti-TNR websites? I have my suspicions.

And oh– man himself, an invasive species on every continent and island he has migrated to outside of Africa has done more damage to the environment and driven more native species into extinction than cats ever could. And in most of the places humanity has spread to, with a few exceptions, there were already native species of cats, small & large, before man introduced his “domesticated” cats into the environment. One such place is Southern California, where UCLA is located, and native home to cougars, bobcats & lynx.

Perhaps the better solution would be to pass some “depredation control laws” to eliminate the excess “Vermin humans” who are damaging the environment and causing mass extinctions. Sounds like you’d be in favor of that.

          1. While it is true that overpopulation of humans is the #1 problem that we and all other species face today (humans are a classified as a “weedy species”, but they ARE NOT an “invasive species”, please educate your sorry-aššed bible-home-schooled selves); this still doesn’t excuse all the responsible, wise, and intelligent people from stopping all the ecological disasters caused by those phenomenally stupid and criminally negligent people who should have never been born in the very first place. You know, cretins and morons JUST LIKE YOU. (Did you even manage to make it to a high-school freshman’s beginner’s class in ecology and biology? Apparently not! Thanks for proving that to the whole world.)

Cats are a man-made (through selective breeding) invasive species. And as such, cats being a product of man, are no less of a man-made environmental disaster than any oil-spill, radiation-fallout, chemical-spill, or other environmental disaster _caused_by_man_. These man-made cats are purely an activity of humans and are the #1 man-made cause of destruction to native wildlife everywhere on earth. If there were no humans your man-made cats wouldn’t exist ANYWHERE ON EARTH. If they were treated just like every other product made by man that destroys ecosystems and indiscriminately destroys all other animals it would be recalled and destroyed as a dangerous defective man-made product, and the ownership and production of them would be made illegal worldwide with harsh fines for anyone attempting to do so. If your cats were only destroying invasive species (cats themselves being a noxious invasive species), then nobody would be complaining. But your vermin cats destroy anything that moves. Letting a cat roam free is absolutely no better and NO LESS CRIMINAL AND MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE than intentionally throwing rat-poison around on everyone’s property to kill any living thing. Killing ANY cat today is no different than putting the cap back on a bottle of human-engineered DDT and then disposing of it as environmentally-safe and responsible as possible.

Cats not only kill off rare marine-mammals along all coastlines; seals, otters, whales, manatees and river-otters (just as oil-spills do) from run-off from the land carrying cats’ Toxoplasma gondii parasites, they also destroy the complete food-chain in every ecosystem where cats are found. From smallest of prey that is gutted and skinned alive, wasted for cats’ tortured play-toys, up to the top predators — starved to death from cats destroying their ONLY foods. They will even destroy native vegetation by destroying those animals that are pollinators or act as seed dispersers for those plants (as many rodent and bird species do) or those acting as plants’ pest-control. Cats can and will wipe out whole ecosystems — animal and plant.

Cats need to disappear from all natural habitats PERMANENTLY, eventually, somehow. And the sooner the better. They are breeding out of control at an exponential rate. The reason for “sooner the better” is that you can only hope you can halt the problem before it is beyond the reach of any method you eventually choose. Luckily, I caught the problem in time where I live — by humanely shooting and burying every last cat I saw, hundreds, collared or not. (Collared strays are the very source of every last feral cat. If you don’t destroy all stray collared cats too then you have done absolutely nothing to solve the problem.)

It seems nobody else is faring as well. Their time is being wasted by astoundingly ignorant cat-lickers stopping them from doing the right thing. Asking or listening to any deranged invasive-species advocate for advice on how to clean up the ecological disaster that they created and are hellbent on perpetuating is about as useful as asking your local career thieves for their advice and help to hide your valuables from their daily motives and activities. Ignore anything they might say and you too will solve the problem where you live. People like that ARE the problem, they cannot be part of the solution. The very moment that cat-lickers, who cause the problem, are cut from the solution-equation it instantly solves itself.

It worked 100% where I live!

      3. Your latest con is claiming that the number of feral-cat intakes into shelters in some-way represents the fewer numbers that are roaming free, still destroying everyone’s property, still harassing the pets of responsible pet-owners, still spreading 3dozen+ deadly diseases to people’s pets and humans and wildlife, and still torturing billions of native wildlife (thousands of individual native-species) to death for their play-toys.

Claiming that there are fewer destructive invasive-species cats roaming free by comparing them to the number of shelter intakes is just as phenomenally stupid, manipulative, and ignorant as claiming there would be fewer rusting cars on the sides of all the roads, leaking all their toxic fluids and heavy-metals into the environment, just because people no-longer took them to the local junkyard for responsible and ecologically-safe disposal.

I guess some fools are just that phenomenally stupid and easily manipulated by you criminally irresponsible cat-lunatics. Even someone with a 3rd-grade background in arithmetic could see beyond this inane and blatantly manipulative tactic of yours. Did any of you even graduate from 3rd-grade?

Any parents of children reading this? Here’s how you can tell that your child’s room is now cleaner than ever before: Fewer of their dirty clothes are in the dirty-clothes hamper where they belong and there is less trash in the garbage-cans. That’s a good way to tell, isn’t it. According to these insane cat-hoarders that’s precisely how you can tell that there is less of a problem in its location of origin. LOL

You do realize, don’t you, that people who TNR cats don’t bring them to shelters? You do everything in your power to convince everyone to not bring ANY cat to a shelter where it might be killed. Don’t any of you even do your research and follow all your blatantly deceptive propaganda campaigns?

By the way, you’ve moved your goal-posts yet again. Now you claim that TNR will ONLY STABILIZE cat populations, not reduce them (in keeping with the findings of all peer-reviewed studies that TNR does NOT decrease cat populations, but only makes cats increase in numbers). What you are proposing is that everyone must endure all their lives, homes, properties, and animals being tormented by you and your vermin cats FOREVER. Nice plan! 🙂

  2. I’m glad fewer cats are being abandoned on campus now. Years ago, I adopted two kittens that were left to fend for themselves on North Campus.

  3. kentucky fried chicken works the best in humane traps for cats!!! they usually stop eating when the door shuts — so never get to the bones.

  4. OK you guys, you’re taking way too long to catch this cat! Do you operate a feeding station? that way you get the cat on a regular schedule, and at a regular place. Then put out your trap with the bait food right in the opening. If she were an unspayed female she’d have had a couple of litters by now.

  5. ROFLMAO!!!

So … it took THIRTY YEARS to get rid of only 340 invasive-species vermin cats? LOL! And just how much did that cost? (Not only in dollars, but in man-hours and the valuable lives of thousands of innocent native animals that got tortured to death by their vermin cats.) I got rid of TWICE that many even more humanely in only 2 seasons of my time, ALL BY MYSELF! And for the cost of only $0.003 PER CAT (1/3rd cent PER CAT, 3 cats PER PENNY). 5,000 rounds of .22’s on a close-out sale for only $15 does wonders!! The eradication of these vermin so complete and effective that I’ve not seen nor heard even ONE cat for miles around going on over SIX YEARS NOW! I don’t even have 10 of them left still destroying all the native wildlife and spreading their 3dozen+ deadly zoonotic diseases to all other humans and valuable animals. I also saved countless THOUSANDS of valuable native animals from being gutted-alive and skinned-alive by invasive-species vermin cats! Where’s the UCLA policy on not torturing animals to death with vermin cats? They should all be in prison-cells for poaching native wildlife. You can’t let a dog hunt out of season and not without a license, where’s their hunting licenses for using their vermin cats to hunt wildlife YEAR ROUND?

What a black-eye for UCLA if anyone ever asks them how “intelligent” all their inhabitants are. LOL

Any establishment of “higher” education; whose administrators, faculty, science departments, and students are so uneducated and foolish as to allow and promote an infestation of invasive species predators; capable of transmitting 3dozen+ deadly zoonotic diseases to students and staff on their own campus; is most certainly worthy of being passed-up in order to find a place with people having education levels above that of 3rd-grade elementary-school or bible-home-schooling.

I’d never want to attend a campus like that. Give people like that MY money? You must be joking. Encouraging and assisting a man-made invasive species to destroy all our valuable native wildlife? This doesn’t say much for the intellect that is in charge of and roaming any halls that would allow that. A clearly visible alert in the sub-standard IQ levels permeating all levels of an institution allowing it.

Unless, of course, this is like where some institutions keep TNR (trap, neuter, re-abandon) cats as a ready supply of dissection specimens for biology finals and for other experiments. Then the TNR “death by attrition” excuse does come in handy to cut costs on some campuses. “They died of ‘TNR attrition’,” makes it so easy to explain-away why so many disappeared and nobody can find the carcasses. It seems to be a popular trend of cost-cutting on some campuses of late. The TNR proponents never the wiser (for that, is clearly impossible).

See if your “schoolin'” can “figger” this one out:

Here’s how you can make any cat-licking, facts-twisting, propaganda-spewing fool reveal just how absurd, hypocritical, ignorant, stupid, and ludicrous ALL their beliefs are; all with just ONE simple question. Ask them:

“If you believe that these man-made (through selective-breeding), environment destroying, deadly-disease infested, pestilent, invasive-species vermin cats are a natural part of the environment and belong out in nature; then why are you even bothering to sterilize them?”

    Blatantly ignorant hypocrite much?

Your agreement to sterilize your domesticated cats is your very agreement that they don’t even belong there in the very first place. Is this too difficult for you to comprehend? Is your 3rd-grade bible-home-schooling, replete with your bambi-cartoon-sing-along curricula, now failing you? Must be.

    1. Nobody’s worried that UCLA’s not going to get your money. First off, you’d never be admitted to UCLA. Secondly, it’s doubtful a knuckle-dragging troglodyte who spends so much time shooting defenseless animals has much to spend anyway.

Since you clearly have no connection to UCLA whatsoever, do everyone a favor and mind your own business.

  6. If the cat is friendly and approaches students and staff…..why not justnpick him up and put him in a crate?

    1. Because we’re dealing with criminally-negligent morons and fools who want to wait and see how long it takes for those cats to be hit by cars, rounded-up for dissection experiments, or die from any other of the “loving and humane” ways that all their cats die from “TNR attrition”. They have a point they want to prove, that they are right — no matter how heinously their cat dies and how many valuable native animals that they have to torture to death for gutted-alive and skinned-alive play-toys for their cats. Not to mention all the students and staff that will be permanently infected by their cats’ Toxoplasma gondii brain-hijacking parasite.

An excerpt from a much lengthier post I often share on the 3dozen+ deadly zoonotic diseases that stray cats are spreading to humans:

… Another interesting experiment. They wanted to find out if dogs could possibly transmit cat-shat Toxoplasma gondii oocysts. A dog infected with T. gondii from a source-cat cannot. The oocyst stage of this parasite’s life-cycle by which cats spread their parasite into all other animals is 100%-dependent on cat-physiology as its primary reproductive host. But if dogs ingest oocyst-laden cat-feces then dogs can pass the oocysts produced by cats & their common brain-hijacking parasite. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9477489?dopt=Abstract&holding=f1000,f1000m,isrctn

It is interesting to note that these Toxoplasma gondii oocysts shed by cats can even survive the hydrochloric stomach acids for the duration that they remain in a mammal’s digestive tract. And then they doubt my words when I tell them of the studies where they found that this parasite’s oocysts (seeds) can even survive washing your hands in bleach. You could wash your hands and garden vegetables in hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes for the same duration that food remains in an animal’s digestive tract and even that won’t destroy it. Your hands would be dissolved into a digestible pulp long before you could kill the Toxoplasma gondii oocysts.

Yeah, “basic hygiene” is going to keep your kids safe from going blind sometime during their life, becoming autistic, schizophrenic, get ADHD, suffer from epilepsy, get brain-cancers, debilitating depressions, suffer from memory-loss, commit unexplained suicides, have bouts of Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), suffer from other neurological illnesses, or die if they ever require any immunosuppressive therapies or contract any immunity-compromising diseases during their lifetime if they had ever played in a sandbox that a neighbor’s cat has defecated in.

Go ahead everyone, drink the cat-lickers’ Kool-Aid.

Someone who will save the life of one of their clearly expendable vermin cats over yours is not to be trusted by any other human alive on this planet. Even cat-lickers can’t trust their fellow cat-lickers to save each others’ lives when it comes right down to it. Truth is, they’d even rather that their own family and friends die (if they have any) than any of their deadly disease-infested cats. Sociopaths and psychopaths, one and all, right to their very cores.
