USAC recap – Feb. 2

The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government that represents the undergraduate student body at UCLA. Council meetings take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff Hall 417 and are open to all students. Watch a live stream of the meetings on the USAC Live! YouTube channel.

Agenda

  • The undergraduate student government unanimously passed a resolution in support of creating an on-campus student-run grocery store.
  • The council approved an allocation of $2,800 from the Contingency Programming Fund.

Officer Reports

  • President Heather Rosen said she is looking to fill two presidential appointments, the Internship Engagement Chair and USAC Communications Director.
  • Rosen added all officers’ announcements and events should be posted to a Google Document that will be accessible to students on the USAC Facebook page.
  • Internal Vice President Heather Hourdequin said she met with the Director of Residential Education of UCLA Residential Life to discuss ways to promote positive body images.
  • Hourdequin added she is working with the Westwood Neighborhood Council to garner student support for improving lighting in Westwood.
  • External Vice President Zach Helder said he talked to senior legislators about AB 1711, a bill that would cap nonresident enrollment at 15.5 percent if passed.
  • Student Wellness Commissioner Marvin Chen said the UCLA Body Image Task Force will host I Love My Body Week during Week 6.
