The three UCLA multievent athletes wrapped up competition at the 2016 DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas, on Saturday afternoon, but only one finished her respective event set.
Redshirt sophomore Kendall Gustafson shaved .07 seconds off her 60-meter hurdles time from last weekend to claim third place in that event while taking second in the long jump and tying for it in the high jump. To round out her pentathlon, Gustafson placed fourth in the shot put and third in the 800-meter.

Sophomore Zack Bornstein threw for 14 meters in the heptathlon shot put, missing the first place score by 5 centimeters. He took fifth in his other three events.
Bornstein did not compete in the hurdles as expected, while fellow sophomore Steele Wasik won the event by .16 seconds despite adding almost a tenth of a second from last weekend.
Neither Bornstein nor Wasik competed in the pole vault or finished the 1000-meter – two of the seven heptathlon events.
Wasik won the high jump to improve his season high to 1.97 meters, took second in the 60-meter dash and third in the long jump and shot put, but without a pole vault or 1000 score, he will have to compile a nationals-worthy performance at another invitational this season.
