Part of Hilgard Avenue closed Friday morning after a house fire was reported a block east of UCLA.

Firefighters responded to the fire at a two-story house at 510 Warner Ave. about 10:10 a.m. Friday, said Margaret Stewart, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman. Hilgard Avenue is closed between Wyton Drive and Strathmore Avenue.

More than 90 firefighters fought the heavy fire on the second floor of the house, according to an LAFD alert.

Two people were evacuated from the house and transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, said Daniel Curry, an LAFD captain.

Curry estimated roads will open in a couple hours. He added the cause and damages of the fire have not been determined yet.

No further information was immediately available. The fire is still under investigation.
