ASUCLA Finance Committee recap – Nov. 20

Members of the Associated Students UCLA Finance Committee discussed the association’s finances at their monthly meeting Friday.

Budget

  • Renovations for the first-floor restrooms in Ackerman Union are currently on hold, said ASUCLA Executive Director Bob Williams.
  • For November, the UCLA store saw strong sales in the textbook department but weak sales in the computer department, Williams said.
  • Panda Express and Wolfgang Puck are down in sales, Williams added.

Student Media discussion

  • Daily Bruin will rent out part of its space for a transfer student center, Williams said.
  • The association plans to get the Daily Bruin out of debt by reducing wages and printing fewer days, Williams added.
  • The board discussed the importance of passing a future referendum fee that would increase funding for the Daily Bruin.
