An event-planning company for sororities and fraternities will offer a 20 percent discount on transportation services to off-campus events.

Extreme Greeks, an event management company that provides transportation and other services to Greek organizations at UCLA, purchased 38 new buses last month.

Dan Wilson, a 2006 UCLA graduate, said he founded Extreme Greeks to offer comprehensive services that make planning easier for greek organizations. The company is first one in Southern California that specifically plans events for Greek organizations.

He added the company also provides DJs, photographers, videographers and licensed security, in addition to transportation.

Wilson said he saw first-hand that hosting events was a time-consuming process, as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha at UCLA, because it involved coordinating with different service providers.

“We would have to call up a bunch of different companies for security, photography, sound and lighting, event planning,” Wilson said. “Why not just call up one company that offered all the services?”

Wilson said the company decided to purchase their own transportation service about a month ago to minimize the time drivers spent returning vehicles. The new fleet includes party and school buses, among other types. Wilson declined to comment on the cost of the vehicles.

He added the purchase will reduce prices for UCLA students and increase the service quality because delegating transportation services to other companies slowed service to their clients.

“When you outsource, you don’t always know what you’re going to get,” Wilson said. “This way, we can control the quality of drivers, make sure they are on time and charge whatever we want.”

Wilson said rental prices range from $1,000 to $15,000 dollars depending on the type and length of the event.

Each Greek organization hosts five off-campus events per quarter and several organizations use Extreme Greeks to host events, said David Mickles, president of the Interfraternity Council.
