The UCLA men’s cross country team impressed in the final meet of the regular season, dominating the field at Friday’s Titan Invitational.
With most of their top runners resting before next week’s conference meet, the Bruin men still finished first by a sizable margin over the runners-up Loyola Marymount Lions.
Coach Forest Braden’s team took the top-three spots among collegiate competitors at the race. Redshirt freshman Jackson Marshall completed the 8-kilometer course in 24:14.21, making him the top collegiate finisher by over 20 seconds. In second place among college runners was redshirt freshman teammate Sahm Bazargan, followed by junior Nolan Dickson in third.
Sophomore Max Davis and senior Jon Bazinet rounded out the scoring for UCLA, finishing fifth and twelfth overall among college runners in the team competition.
Several Bruin men also ran unaffiliated, with freshman Colin Burke finishing third overall, in between Marshall and Bazargan. Redshirt Patrick Gleason, freshman Millen Trujillo and freshman Carlos Suarez also ran unaffiliated and finished in the top 10 overall.
On the women’s side, only four Bruins ran, all competing individually. Sophomore Emily Fieberling finished sixth overall with a time of 18:18.7 on the 5-kilometer women’s course. Senior Kelly Brooks placed 11th, redshirt freshman Katie Sered 40th and senior Kim Mackay 44th.
With the regular season concluded, both teams will begin the postseason on Friday at the Pac-12 Championships in Colfax, Washington.
