UCLA redshirt junior cornerback Ishmael Adams was charged Monday with one misdemeanor count of battery after he was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal from an Uber driver in August.
City prosecutors said they found evidence Adams knowingly attacked an Uber driver while he was a passenger, according to court documents. County prosecutors decided last month they would not file felony charges against Adams.
University police arrested Adams on Aug. 30 near the Facilities Management building near central campus. He was held in jail for two days before posting $100,000 in bail.
Adams was initially suspended but was reinstated to the team in September after the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office dropped charges against him. The defensive back played three games so far for UCLA this season.
Adams is set to appear at Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Courthouse on Nov. 16 for his arraignment.
