Three women reported being groped Thursday morning by a man walking past them on campus sidewalks.

Between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday, the man grabbed three women on their upper thighs while they passed him on the sidewalk, according to a UCPD statement released early Friday.

The incidents, listed by police as sexual batteries, were reported near the corner of Westwood Boulevard and Le Conte Avenue, on Charles E. Young Drive East near Murphy Hall, and on Charles E. Young Drive South near the Gonda (Goldschmeid) Neuroscience and Genetics Research Center.

Several of the women told police they had a prior incident with the same man several weeks ago, and one of the women reported a similar incident in early March.

The man was described as Asian, 18 to 22 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a tan complexion, medium build and short, unkempt black hair. He was wearing dark gray pants, a white polo shirt with thin horizontal black stripes, black tennis shoes with white soles, glasses and a black backpack.

No injuries were reported. The case is still under investigation, and police are still searching for the man.

The sexual batteries came about four hours after a man with a knife attempted to sexually assault a UCLA student jogging along Veteran Avenue about 5 a.m. Thursday. The man on Veteran Avenue was described as being 6 feet tall with a medium-to-large build, and was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

Anyone with information about these incidents or similar incidents can call UCPD at (310) 825-1491.

  1. Was the man on veteran also Asian? That’s a pretty big key detail you left out if you’re going to even suggest they were linked.
