Residents of Hedrick Summit were evacuated to Hedrick Hall for about three and a half hours starting at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday because of a flood from a fire sprinkler.
Thirteen rooms on the seventh floor received severe water damage, and residents affected by water damage have been relocated into temporary rooms until it is cleaned up, said Barbara Wilson, associate director of the room operations in UCLA Housing and Hospitality Services, in an email statement. Students not in those rooms were let back into Hedrick Summit around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Some rooms on the floor below also received minor water damage.
Wilson said UCLA Housing and Hospitality Services and UCLA Residential Life are working closely with the displaced students, but they have not finalized a repair timeline.
