We would like to condemn the posters which were posted on campus this weekend labeling members of Students for Justice in Palestine as “Jew Haters.” While we have in the past condemned speakers sponsored by SJP for their anti-Semitic rhetoric and believe the inappropriate singling out of Israel to be discriminatory, we wholeheartedly condemn these actions and the malicious intent behind them. This sort of hostility and offensive language have no place on a university campus, especially one as diverse as UCLA.
As soon as we became aware that these posters had been put up, we immediately contacted university police, reached out to SJP to express our dismay and support and even sent volunteers to take them down.
While we do not know the perpetrators who created and distributed these flyers, we are firm in our stance that there is no room for these actions or this language on our campus.
We look forward to working with groups from across the UCLA community to address, condemn and prevent such incidents in the future.

Clarification: Jewish and pro-Israel groups authored this submission, not just Jewish groups.
These Jewish groups have nothing to apologize for.
SJP has a long history of doing the very actions that would constitute a #Jewhater, including supporting terrorists that murder Jews. The fundraiser SJP held for terrorist Rasmea Odeh at DePaul University last month is one of many, many examples.
My advice is that SJP be banned immediately, along with fellow terrorist linked student org MSA. Both are actively being investigated by the US government for ties to terrorist organizations. We do not need this on any American campus, period.
Better yet, you need to be banned from this website for your shocking bigotry and dishonesty. You’ve gone way beyond respectful criticism, sir. You don’t deserve debate.
Funny, coming from someone that called Donald Sterling a “Typical rich Jew, who believes he’s above everything and everybody.”
Yup, that post you made on the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles. Everyone call look at your post history and see what a rabid, disgusting, anti-Semite you are.
You are the one who does not deserve debate, you can let yourself out the door, scum, before you get carried out.
You Jew-hating Democrats and Muslims are the dishonest bigots who support the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo. And no surprise you hate free speech, Achmed.
But I am Achmed. Why are you calling him Achmed. Do you just go around call everyone Achmed? I told you this before too, its Ahmed. No need to add the extra c in there.
It would benefit you more if you actually tried to start an initiative to get SJP/MSA removed from campus instead of trying to whip up a furor on the website for the campus newspaper.
Be the change you want to see in the world, and all that.
I’m working on it on a national level.
These posters happen to be a brilliant move
The posters didn’t label “members” of SJP as Jew haters. It labeled SJP the organization as Jew haters. Which it undoubtedly is. The posters were brilliant, and you can see their effect on SJP.
Anyone remember when UCLA’s Muslim Paper, Al Talib, defended Osama Bin Laden as a “freedom fighter”? Proof is online: http://imgur.com/4e0OdQA
Thanks for the Mify!
Seeing how they are working so hard to scrub evidence of the USAC meeting from YouTube, pieces of evidence like this are important.
Uuuuh America was paying and arming him to fight at this point, you realize that right?
I don’t understand the reasoning here in the statement. If SJP brings in speakers who say anti-semitic things, one might fairly assume SJP is anti-semitic. If they support Hamas then they may fairly be associated with the images on the posters.
It’s double-speak. Welcome to George Orwell’s 1984.
SJP = anti-Semetic, pro-terrorist organization. They should be removed from campus immediately.
UCLA should be removing council members that do not understand the following university policy.
The University of California, in accordance with applicable Federal and State law and University policy, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition (cancer related or genetic characteristics), ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or service in the uniformed services. The University also prohibits sexual harassment.
This nondiscrimination policy covers admission, access, and treatment in University programs and activities.
Can anyone out there please explain why these 4 students can sit on a judicial board and not understand that asking about religion is breaking state and federal law/
Twist it anyway you want, but students at UCLA are protected under state and federal law that does not allow you to discriminate based on sex, gender, religion, disability etc.
Beyond the fact that I not sure this young woman has a say in Israel’s politics and policing, I don’t think they call her before they act.
Am I responsible for how the Pope behaves or his stand on abortion?
What if the young woman was raped? How do I feel?
Does the Pope call me before he acts?
Would this be fair game during my job interview?
Do you understand why we have state and federal laws to protect against discrimination in jobs or on campus? My only real question is why 4 members who sit on a JUDICIARY BOARD do not understand basic US law.
Bottom line, the 4 students that voted against her were just afraid that she might question their decisions supporting SJP and the terrorist Rasmea Odeh that SJP supports.
If students on campus can not follow our laws should they be able to sit on a judiciary board? If you don’t think so please sign the petition.
