UCLA football hired former Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley to the same position at UCLA Monday, according to ESPN.
Bradley joins the staff of coach Jim Mora after former defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich left to serve as the linebackers coach of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons on Feb. 6.
Bradley is the third defensive coordinator for the Bruins in as many years after working as associate head coach this past season for West Virginia, where he mainly coached the defensive line.
Prior to his time in Morgantown, W.Va., Bradley spent his entire coaching career with Penn State. He began as a graduate assistant on Joe Paterno’s staff in 1979 after playing defensive back for the university during the previous four years.
Bradley then worked as a position coach up until 2000, when he was promoted to defensive coordinator. He held the position for 12 seasons before serving as the team’s interim head coach after Paterno was fired for his role in the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
After Bill O’Brien replaced him as the head coach for the Nittany Lions, Bradley resigned from the university in 2012 and worked as a color analyst for CBS Sports before heading to West Virginia.
