Arts advocate donates $2 million to UCLA school of music

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music recently received a $2 million donation from an advocate of the arts at UCLA.

Elaine Krown Klein gave $2 million to honor her late husband, Leo M. Klein. The gift will establish the first chair in performance studies in the department of music.

The position will go to a faculty member who is accomplished in music and research and has taught and mentored students.

Elaine Krown Klein has been an advocate of the arts as a member of The Affiliates of UCLA, a service group for women in Los Angeles, according to a press release.

In 1986, the Kleins developed the Elaine Krown Klein Fine Arts Scholarship Fund to support art students. UCLA will host current and past Elaine Krown Klein Scholars at a reunion in May that will celebrate her commitment to UCLA arts.
