Five UCLA researchers were recently named fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest scientific society.
Current members of the association selected UCLA researchers Linda Gwen Baum, Ann M. Hirsch, Michael Stephen Levine, Pamela Munro and Dwight W. Read as new AAAS fellows last week. Fellows are selected based on their contributions to their respective academic fields through leadership, teaching or innovation.
The researchers are among 26 researchers from the University of California named in this year’s class, according to a University press release. The UCLA researchers were among 401 researchers across the country selected to be AAAS fellows.
The new fellows will be honored at the association’s annual meeting in San Jose in February.
