The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government representing the undergraduate student body at UCLA. Council meetings take place every week on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students. Watch a live stream of the meeting on the USAC Live! YouTube channel.
Agenda
- USAC unanimously approved contingency programming fund allocations with a 9-0-0 vote.
- Councilmembers unanimously approved a resolution to amend the charter of the University of California Student Association to allow votes by proxy and shift the times of some board meetings to occur earlier in the summer. The resolution also included an amendment to the UCSA bylaws to explicitly state that the organization is a nonprofit.
Special presentations
- Members of Students for Justice in Palestine presented arguments to USAC about why they think USAC should support divestment. The student group talked about events held during Palestine Awareness Week and its divestment campaign.
- Community Service Commission members said they will be organizing Homeboy Industries Tours later in the quarter. Tours will be conducted weeks seven through nine, and free transportation will be provided to the organization’s site for students. People who are interested should sign up online. The Community Service Commission will also be offering trips to a Veterans’ home in L.A. on Veterans’ Day.
