UCLA women’s golf places second at Pac-12 Preview despite rough start

The UCLA women’s golf team achieved second place at the Pac-12 Preview despite a rough start in the first two rounds.

Sophomore Alison Lee led the way for the Bruins, as she was the only player to post below par in all three rounds.

Lee’s score of 10-under par gave her the best score out of all individual players.

Senior Erynne Lee also posted a solid finish but still finished 1-over par for the tournament.

Despite a solid start of 1-under par in the first two rounds, a score of 2-over par in the last round would disallow Lee from hitting under par for the tournament.

Sophomore Bronte Law and junior Louise Ridderstrom got off to uncharacteristic rough starts and couldn’t quite recover.

Both Law and Ridderstrom were in the top five at the Stanford Intercollegiate, but they could not crack the top 10 this weekend.

Law would end the tournament with a score of 6-over par. The sophomore started 6-over par in the first two rounds, but she couldn’t lower the score in the last round as she finished even.

Ridderstrom started well in the first round with a score of 2-under par, but a score of 10-over par in the second round would be the lowest individual score in a round on the team for the tournament.

Freshman Aliea Clark, who made her first collegiate start, also couldn’t get off to a good start as she posted a score of 5-over par in both of her first two rounds.

She finished her last round with a score of 2-over par and would end the tournament 12-over par.

Despite some rough performances, the Bruins still finished second overall as a team.

UCLA heads into a small offseason break and will continue collegiate play in February.
