Faculty, students to discuss diversity requirement over dinner

Students can now reserve spots online for a dinner with faculty members to talk about a diversity-related course requirement at UCLA.

The dinner, which is organized by the Undergraduate Students Association Council Academic Affairs Commission, will take place Oct. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bruin Plate. Several faculty members who are heavily involved in developing and pushing for the requirement will attend the informal dinner to engage with students and answer questions about the requirement proposal.

Students can RSVP through an online form. Faculty members will start voting on the requirement for the College of Letters and Science next week, from Oct. 24-31.

  1. Dear Daily Bruin,

A diversity-related course requirement is a wonderful idea. We are living in an ever globalized world, and employees and employers (and future employers for you entrepreneurial Bruins and/or capital-connected folks) have a competitive advantage over others when they have cultural knowledge. Also helps to avoid gaffes (for future politicians).
