Brett Hundley, Myles Jack named to Walter Camp Award watch list

In the last major college football watch list released for the upcoming season, quarterback Brett Hundley and linebacker Myles Jack were named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2014 Player of the Year award Friday.

50 players total were named to the award’s watch list, 10 of whom were from the Pac-12.

Both UCLA football players, Hundley and Jack, have received profuse recognition during award watch lists season.

Hundley, a redshirt junior, was also named to the watch lists for the Maxwell Award for college player of the year and the Davey O’Brien Award for top quarterback. And though the Heisman Trophy, college football’s most prestigious award, doesn’t release an official watch list, Hundley should be one of its major contenders.

A true sophomore, Jack has been listed on more award watch lists than any UCLA football player with eight total nominations.

His seven other selections were for the Lott IMPACT Trophy (defensive player who makes the biggest “impact”), 2014 College Football Performance Awards Linebacker Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award (college defensive player of the year), Rotary Lombardi Award (best down lineman), Butkus Award (nation’s best linebacker), Bronko Nagurski (nation’s top defensive player) and the Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player).

Hundley, Jack and the rest of the Bruin football team will begin their season on Aug. 30 at Virginia.
