University police arrested four people during and after the quarterly Undie Run on Wednesday night, which attracted thousands of participants and onlookers.
More than 10,000 people gathered on the northwest corner of Strathmore Drive and Charles E. Young Drive West at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and began running just before midnight, UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said in an email statement. She added that another 3,000 to 4,000 people joined in later.
Officers arrested two UCLA students in Royce Quad during the event, both for public intoxication, Greenstein said.
After the run, UCPD received reports of a residential burglary on Midvale Avenue and a street robbery near the corner of Landfair Avenue and Midvale Avenue, close to several police officers who were on patrol because of Undie Run.
Officers saw a suspicious car and performed a traffic stop, detaining an 18-year-old man and a male juvenile. The man, Paul Lawrence Fuller, was arrested for robbery just before 4 a.m. Thursday and was booked two hours later at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles. Fuller is not affiliated with UCLA.
Fuller will appear in court on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Courthouse.
Emergency services also handled two medical calls for alcohol intoxication Wednesday night, Greenstein said.
UCPD increased its presence at the event Wednesday night and brought in additional university police officers from UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC San Francisco because police expected high attendance. The Los Angeles Police Department also patrolled the North Village during the event.
