UCLA School of Law fundraiser aims to raise $150M

The UCLA School of Law launched fundraising efforts alongside UCLA’s Centennial Campaign Friday, to raise $150 million for the professional school.

The law school will use the funds to support student scholarships and improve research initiatives, among other causes, according to a statement from the UCLA School of Law.

The fundraiser is a part of the Centennial Campaign, a philanthropic project to raise $4.2 billion for UCLA in the wake of decreasing state funding.

The law school’s funding campaign will also help create new faculty chair positions for retaining and attracting new faculty members and helping improve institutes’ and centers’ work in the community, according to the statement.

Several donors have already given money to the campaign, including $5 million from the Resnick family for the Resnick Food Law and Policy program and $5.5 million from Charles R. Williams for the Williams Institute for the study of sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy, in addition to several million more in matching endowment funding.

“We must continue to invest in training for leadership as well as impactful research that addresses society’s most pressing challenges,” said Rachel F. Moran, dean of the UCLA School of Law, in the statement.
