A service from the Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment to increase community involvement in local government is calling for residents to submit nominations for the best neighborhood council.
The service, called EmpowerLA, has a board of neighborhood commissioners that honors neighborhood councils that fulfill their mission to involve locals with their government, according to a statement from the organization.
The service is meant to highlight neighborhood councils that have been especially inclusive and transparent. The board uses the awards as incentives for neighborhood councils across Los Angeles to improve themselves and achieve their goals.
Stakeholders in the Westwood community can vote for the Westwood Neighborhood Council or another council of their choice online.
The deadline to submit nominations for the EmpowerLA awards is July 11.
