President Obama to attend events in LA, heavy traffic expected

President Barack Obama will visit West Los Angeles from Wednesday evening until Thursday morning and is expected to cause heavy traffic in the area.

According to the White House, Obama will arrive at LAX at 5 p.m. on Wednesday to speak at an event for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. He will later attend a USC Shoah Foundation dinner later in the evening, which will be live-streamed by the White House.

On Thursday, Obama is expected to attend a Democratic National Committee event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in the morning before leaving for a fundraiser in La Jolla, according to a statement being circulated by local news organizations.

Traffic congestion is anticipated around Motor Avenue and Pico Boulevard, Pico and Beverly Glen boulevards, and Santa Monica and Beverly Glen boulevards from 4-6 p.m Wednesday, according to an advisory from the Los Angeles Police Department.

From 6-8 p.m., traffic is expected around Sunset and Beverly Glen boulevards and Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars.

The area around the 405 and 10 freeway intersection, as well as Wilshire and Sunset boulevards, are also expected to be heavily impacted.

On Thursday, there may be traffic around Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars and Pico Boulevard and Motor Avenue from 9-11 a.m.
