A global health symposium will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. for people interested in global health and going to medical school.
MEDLIFE, a global health organization that gives students hands-on experience alongside physicians and working professionals in other countries, is organizing the event.
The symposium will consist of talks by three speakers with experience in global health and a Q&A; panel with six UCLA medical students, residents and faculty.
“Health in other parts of the world is very, very different and I think it’s important to be able to share that and be able to learn,” said Ilana Greenberg, a first-year undeclared life sciences student and an organizer of the event. “I also think this event will be targeting prospective medical students.”
The symposium will take place in the Venice Room in Carnesale Commons and is free for all students. Students do not need to RSVP beforehand, but they can if they want to receive a reminder email, Greenberg said.
