A man robbed a female student, forced her into a car and pulled up her shirt in the North Village early Tuesday morning, officials said.
At about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, the student was walking west on Ophir Drive toward Veteran Avenue when a man standing outside of a parked dark-colored Honda sedan approached her, according to a statement by university police.
The man told her to give him her belongings, then reached into her sweater pocket and took out her cell phone. He then forced her into his sedan and lifted up her shirt, according to the report. The student used her pepper spray on the man and was able to escape, said UCPD Lieutenant Mark Littlestone.
The man was described as 20 to 25 years old, Asian and 5-foot-7-inches to 5-foot-8-inches tall, with short, spiky hair. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, light-colored jeans and a cloth necklace. No further information was available, Littlestone said.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.
