Weekend Predictions: April 25-27

Every Friday, The Bruin Sports section will predict the outcome of the weekend’s top three UCLA sporting events.

Men’s tennis: Pac-12 tournament (Friday and Saturday)

The Bruins should roll through the tournament, until at least Saturday’s final, where a likely showdown against the No. 1 USC Trojans awaits. After a mid-February win over USC, UCLA dropped the latest crosstown rivalry matchup on April 18. Expect a similar result in Saturday’s final, should both teams make it that far.

Women’s water polo: MPSF tournament (Friday to Sunday)

UCLA is almost certainly able to defeat CSU Bakersfield, a team the Bruins have outscored every single time this season. However, the No. 2 Bruins may fall to the No. 3 USC Trojans in the second round, then go on to defeat California for third place in the MPSF – just as they finished last year.

Baseball: UCLA v. USC (Friday and Saturday)

UCLA got beat up in the first game of its series against USC Thursday night, losing 10-0. Both teams are evenly matched, each sporting 22-17 records, but USC will come out on top for the series, winning one of the next two games.

2014 prediction record to date: 5-10

Correction: The men’s tennis Pac-12 tournament final took place Saturday, April 26.
