Homelessness Awareness Week, an event meant to educate students about homelessness in Los Angeles, is happening until Friday at various locations across campus and on the Hill.
Tara Noorani, a committee liaison for the Mobile Clinic Project and a fourth-year physiological science student, organized the event with Akshay Ravi, the Mobile Clinic Project grant writing chair and a fourth-year physiological science student. The undergraduate student government’s Community Service Commission and the Office of Residential Life helped sponsor the event as well.
Throughout the week, an exhibition with about 25 photographs of the mobile clinic’s clients will be in Dickson Court. The exhibit will also be on the Hill from Wednesday through Friday. Each photo has a caption with a quote from the subject, Noorani said.
“(By looking at the pictures), students can experience what we’ve experienced through our volunteer work,” she added.
The Homelessness Awareness Fair will be held on the Hill for the rest of the week, and residents can participate in activities there.
