Junior third baseman Chris Keck will miss the remainder of the 2014 season with a blood clot in his arm, UCLA baseball announced Monday.

He did not play in the team’s most recent series against Utah, as redshirt senior Aaron Weimer started in his place.

Prior to this weekend, Keck had started all 34 games at the hot corner for the Bruins. Often hitting in the bottom third of the order, he finishes his season with a .215 average, one home run and 10 RBI.

On defense, he had a .934 fielding percentage and six errors, the third most on the team.

Before the season got underway, UCLA lost would-be starters junior right fielder Eric Filia and junior shortstop Kevin Kramer to season-ending injuries.

Senior Kevin Williams would have been the starting second baseman, but he has been limited to designated hitter duties due to a shoulder injury.

In addition, after sustaining injuries in the Arizona series, senior outfielder Brian Carroll made only one appearance this weekend, in Thursday’s game as a defensive replacement, as he has been limited with a bruised rotator cuff. Meanwhile, junior closer David Berg was unavailable this weekend with a strained right bicep.
