A banquet event designed to help students understand the similarities and differences between the Hindu and Jewish cultures will take place on the Hill Thursday night.
The event, organized by the Undergraduate Students Association Council General Representative 2 office, will include cultural dance lessons, food from both cultures and time for small break-out discussions.
All students can attend the banquet, which will take place in the Rieber Fireside Lounge from 6 to 8 p.m.
USAC General Representative Sunny Singh said he worked with other student leaders in the Hindu Student Association, Hillel at UCLA and J Street U at UCLA to put on the event.
The banquet focuses on the Jewish and Hindu cultures because Jewish student organizations and a member of the Hindu Student Association expressed interest in the event after talking with Singh, he said.
Singh said he hopes the banquet will be the first in a series of similar cross-cultural events programmed by his office. He added that he plans to collaborate with more student groups next quarter and organize additional events this year.
