Ever imagine Shakespeare creating a set based on a frat party, or perhaps collaborating with Charles Dickens for new plot ideas? Shakespeare Company at UCLA is a group that continues to explore and reimagine Shakespeare’s plays centuries after the Bard first wrote them. The club has attracted students from a variety of academic backgrounds, from devoted theater students to microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics students. Its most recent event, “Evening of Shakespeare,” consists of student-directed, acted and managed scenes from Shakespeare’s repertoire, each with a fresh new twist. Listen to students talk about why they joined the group, what their favorite parts of production and performing are and what to expect during the show taking place in Kerckhoff Grand Salon on December 6 and 7.
