Four different UCLA players were voted by Pac-12 coaches to all-conference teams, the conference announced Monday.
Junior offensive lineman Xavier Su’a-Filo and senior outside linebacker Anthony Barr were each named to the All-Pac-12 First Team for the second year in a row, while freshman outside linebacker Myles Jack was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team Defense. Redshirt junior inside linebacker Ryan Hofmeister was also named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team for his play on special teams this season.
Jack received an award combination the likes of which the Pac-12 has never seen before. Since the creation of freshman offensive and defensive awards in 2008, Jack is the first player to be named both Freshman Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year.
In just four games at running back, Jack totaled 267 rushing yards on only 37 carries. After a jaw-dropping 66-yard touchdown run against Arizona, Jack established himself in a goal line role that allowed him to cross the goal line six more times, with four scores coming against Washington on Nov. 15.
Defensively, he started 11 games, recording 70 total tackles, 10 passes broken up, a blocked punt and an interception to end the Utah game.
Sixteen other Bruins were All-Pac-12 honorable mentions. On offense, redshirt sophomore center Jake Brendel, freshman Y receiver Thomas Duarte, redshirt senior wide receiver Shaq Evans, sophomore wide receiver Devin Fuller, redshirt sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley and freshman right guard Alex Redmond received the distinction.
On defense, redshirt freshman cornerback Fabian Moreau, sophomore safety Randall Goforth, redshirt junior safety Anthony Jefferson, redshirt junior inside linebacker Eric Kendricks, senior inside linebacker Jordan Zumwalt, senior defensive lineman Cassius Marsh, sophomore defensive lineman Ellis McCarthy and freshman defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes were all named to the honorable mention list. Special teamer Jayon Brown and punter Sean Covington, both freshmen, were likewise honored.
