UCLA player arrested for suspected sexual assault released

UCLA football player Torian White was released from custody Tuesday night, following an arrest on suspicion of sexual assault over the weekend.

Police arrested White after they were called to an apartment on Glenrock Avenue at about 3 a.m. Sunday. He was held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, just north of Downtown Los Angeles.

White was not held on bail because the District Attorney asked to review additional evidence, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department official said.

Further investigations are needed before the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office decides whether or not to file charges against White, said district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison. White, 20, has been suspended from the UCLA football team indefinitely while the legal and student disciplinary processes continue, UCLA football coach Jim Mora said in the statement.
