UCLA wide receiver Nick Pasquale had a blood alcohol content of 0.26 percent when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in the early morning of Sept. 8, said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Pasquale was on foot when a vehicle hit him on Camino De Los Mares, west of Calle Nuevo in his hometown of San Clemente, Calif. The initial coroner’s report stated that the cause of death was blunt force trauma. A routine toxicology report conducted posthumously indicated that Pasquale had no drugs in his system.
Hallock said it wasn’t possible to determine whether Pasquale’s BAC played a part in the events leading to his death.
As a point of reference, Pasquale’s BAC was more than three times California’s legal driving limit of 0.08 percent.
