After the women’s team finished first overall and the men finished first in their division in races at last weekend’s Titan Invitational, UCLA cross country will head into the final stages of its season as the Bruins travel to Louisville, Colo., to participate in the Pac-12 championships.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will send 10 athletes each to the tournament, including sophomore Jen Owen, who finished first among division I runners in last weekend’s 5k.
The men’s team will face some challenging competition at the Pac-12 championships, racing against No. 1 Colorado, No. 4 Oregon and No. 13 Stanford. UCLA, who was previously ranked No. 21, dropped out of the rankings this week.
Things won’t be easier for the women’s team. Unranked UCLA will compete against No. 1 Arizona, No. 12 Oregon, No. 13 Washington, No. 20 Stanford and No. 26 Arizona State.
Last season, the men’s team finished in fifth place while the women finished sixth.
