UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero issued a statement Sunday providing an update on recent developments in UCLA’s ongoing legal conflict regarding Jackie Robinson Stadium.
After UCLA expressed optimism last week, Guerrero confirmed that UCLA baseball will play its 2014 season at Jackie Robinson Stadium, after appealing a federal judge’s August ruling that the land was inappropriately leased to UCLA by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“In (filing an appeal), we have ensured that our NCAA champion baseball team will be able to play its full upcoming season in Jackie Robinson Stadium while we continue to work towards a long-term resolution to this matter,” Guerrero said in the statement.
UCLA was granted the ability to appeal on October 21 and Guerrero said the appeal will give UCLA “a seat at the table to work towards crafting a resolution that helps veterans by building upon our longstanding relationship with the VA and our strong commitment to veterans.”
