The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda

With a 5-7-0 vote, the council voted down a resolution in support of a peaceful campus approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and investments in specific companies. More than 100 students attended the meeting to voice their support for, or protest of, the resolution.

The council approved contingency programming funds for this week with a 10-0-2 vote.

The council unanimously approved funding allocations for the Student Organization Operational Fund.

The council approved funding allocations for the Associated Student UCLA Board of Directors Programming Fund with a 10-0-2 vote.

USAC President John Joanino said he talked about Title IX rights with University of California President Janet Napolitano over the weekend.

Internal Vice President Avi Oved said that the Funding Study Group – instead of his office – will now handle the USAC quarterly budget report.

External Vice President Maryssa Hall said that her office is bringing a United States Student Association GrassRoots Organizing Weekend, a training program for student organizers, to campus Nov. 8-9.

Academic Affairs Commissioner Darren Ramalho said that the Academic Affairs Commission is holding its first Stress Free Day on Friday, Oct. 25 called Scare Away the Stress!

Student Wellness Commissioner Savannah Badalich said that she is continuing to work on initiatives for 7,000 in Solidarity, a campaign against sexual assault housed in her office and the USAC President’s office.
Special Presentations

Finance Committee Chair Cynthia Jasso presented to the council about an auditing process for the USAC Contingency Programming Fund. Jasso said that the auditing process will be carried out using an online auditing form and a random sample audit. The audits are aimed at ensuring that funds are properly allocated and at looking at USAC funding holistically, she said.

The council unanimously appointed Leanna Huynh, a fourth-year environmental science student, to the Campus Sustainability Committee.

The council unanimously appointed Ramanveer Kirk, a fourth-year anthropology student, to the Undergraduate Council, an undergraduate body in the Academic Senate.

The council unanimously appointed Jazz Kiang, a second-year Asian American studies student, to the Student Fee Advisory Committee.

The council unanimously appointed Mary Onglatco, a third-year physiological science student, to the Student Health Advisory Committee.

The council appointed Matthew Murray, a second-year microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics student, to the Student Health Advisory Committee with an 11-0-1 vote.

The council appointed Chika Chuku, a fourth-year biological chemistry student, to the Community Service Mini Fund with an 11-0-1 vote.

The council unanimously appointed Diana Lazo, a third-year biology student, to the Community Service Mini Fund.

The council unanimously appointed Finance Committee Chair Cynthia Jasso and Finance Committee Vice Chair Cindy Wang to sit on the Appellate Review Board.
