Cross country places 27th at Wisconsin Adidas Invitational

UCLA cross-country’s unbeaten streak to start the season came to an end Saturday as the men’s team and the women’s team placed
27th in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.

The invitational, held at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course, showcased the top athletes and schools in the nation, with the men competing in a 10-kilometer race and the women in a 6-kilometer race.

Sophomore Nick Hartle led the Bruin men with a time of 23:59, earning him 47th place.

The men also saw performances by sophomore Sergey Sushchikh and redshirt junior Daniel Herrera, who placed 122nd and 123rd, respectively — out of the near 300 athletes who competed.

Redshirt junior Kelsey Smith, whose time of 20:27 earned her 35th place, led the women’s squad.

Other notable performances by the women included junior Annie Mooney and redshirt junior Meghan Marvin, who came in 51st and 163rd, respectively.

Although the Bruins failed to rise up among the tough competition at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, they will get another chance to show what they can do next weekend in Fullerton, at the Titan Invitational.
