Thousands of students bustled around tables in Wilson Plaza and Royce Quad at Monday’s Enormous Activities Fair, an annual event where students showcase and recruit for their clubs or organizations.
Tracy Guo, a third-year cognitive science student, pranced about in a lion head trying to attract the attention of students in the activities fair. Guo, a member of the UCLA Association of Chinese Americans Lion Dance, said she enjoys sneaking up on people and scaring them. “We chase people around and pretend to eat them or chew at their shoes.” Guo said.
Chris Law, a second-year civil engineering student, was at the enormous activities fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. He checked out the various booths and organizations at the event. Law said he was looking to find clubs that fit in with his major. “It’s kind of like window shopping. You look around and see what there is,” Law said.
Olivia Siegels, a third-year political science student, said she was overwhelmed by the number of people at the enormous activities fair. “It’s a little busy. Everything is clustered, and I don’t really know what’s going on because of the crowd.” said Siegels, who transferred to UCLA this year. Siegels said she enjoyed the booths at which you could spin a wheel to win prizes the most.
