I’m sure you’ve heard people talking about how newspapers are dying. Trust me, we’ve heard it too.
And while we’re committed to bringing you a visually interesting and informative paper every day, we’re also working to make our content more convenient for you.
Our iPhone app, Bruin Football by Daily Bruin Sports, is currently undergoing a major redesign and content overhaul (stay tuned for a new and improved Bruin Basketball app as well). We hope this will be a great resource for you to stay up-to-date with everything related to UCLA football.
All of our print stories, as well as app-exclusive content like opponent scouting reports, player profiles and live in-game updates are now easily accessible, sitting in that little metal rectangle in your pocket.
But as hard as we work to provide you with a steady stream of new content on the app, we want to give you the ability to pitch in as well.
Our new Bruin fan forum provides a platform for in-depth discussion on UCLA football, and it’s up to you to drive the discussion. Excited about a potential recruit or notice a Bruin on a hot streak? Share your thoughts on the app’s forum and see what your fellow fans think.
And we’re not stopping with the app. We’re looking to increase our presence online as well. Our blog, Bruin Sights, is being renovated and we’re excited to bring you a steady supply of informative and analytical content there all year long.
But, again, what we’re really interested in is hearing what you have to say. Please don’t hesitate to share any of your opinions, thoughts, comments or suggestions with us by emailing me at the address you see at the bottom of this article, tweeting us @DBSports, stopping us to chat on Bruin Walk or dropping by the Daily Bruin office in Kerckhoff Hall.
My job this year as Sports editor is to serve you, the UCLA fan.
It’s an exciting time to be a Bruin. Our baseball team just won its firstnational title, the football squad looks poised to become a top-10 team and a new era of basketball is set to begin with Steve Alford at the head of the storied program.
And while those developments are all interesting, we’re just as excited to bring you stories about the student sitting next to you in class who happens to be an expert rock climber, or the UCLA football player who spearfishes on weekends.
Who knows? Maybe our next story will be about you. After all, what are sports without the people who play them?
