Motion to stop same-sex marriage rejected

A Supreme Court justice rejected a motion by Proposition 8 supporters to stop same-sex marriage in California, according to the Associated Press.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy turned away the application without comment today.

Prop. 8 supporters said in a statement Saturday that the Ninth Court of Appeals acted prematurely when it lifted a hold on same-sex marriage two days after the Supreme Court sent Prop. 8 back to the state.
