The three of us are graduating at the end of this quarter so, needless to say, working on our last issue of prime as editors has been bittersweet. We’ve been through all the phases associated with the impending goodbye from UCLA, from blissful denial to sheer panic.
But for the most part, this quarter has been defined by moments of nostalgia as we’ve reflected on the shape the narratives of our time at the Daily Bruin have taken.
The stories in this issue of prime will no doubt reflect this attention to narrative and legacy.
Learn about how The Bruin’s Science and Health editor Alessandra Daskalakis explored graphology, the study of handwriting and what it says about a person’s identity and experiences (Reading Between the Lines).
Read columnist Eitan Arom’s tribute to Lloyd Shapley, a Nobel-winning professor emeritus in economics and mathematics whose work in game theory has contributed to UCLA’s legacy (The Longest Game of All).
For all our emphasis on reflection, there’s also content that will provide you with ways to explore new things. Find out how to participate in food adventurism with a piece on offal (Carnivore Cravings) or learn how to make beverages perfect for the summer weather (Summer Brew).
We hope you enjoy this issue of prime. We enjoyed putting it together.
