Very few voters registered in the Westwood and UCLA community actually cast a ballot in Tuesday’s mayoral elections, according to data from the L.A. City Clerk’s office.
At the eight polling booths located on and off campus, about 804 out of 16,326 registered voters in the Westwood area submitted ballots – a roughly 5 percent voter turnout.
Community members in Westwood favored Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti, who received 67.8 percent of the vote locally – 13 points more than Los Angeles’ average. Wendy Greuel received 32.2 percent of the Westwood area’s vote.
Locally, about 67 percent of voters favored Proposition D, a proposition that caps the number of medical marijuana dispensaries and raises taxes on their products.
