The Undergraduate Students Association Council Candidate Debates will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday evening in De Neve Auditorium. During the debate, the 23 candidates for office will participate in the debate that Daily Bruin Campus editor Jillian Beck and USAC Election Board chair Dana Pede will moderate. Maryssa DEFINITELY has an agenda. It doesn’t seem like she’s going to as open as Nicole. I am completely unaffiliated with both, but my vote will definitely go to Nicole.
Nicole starting yelling halfway through her debates though, kind of how Armen seemed like he wanted to punch Anthony halfway through their debates. I’m not comfortable voting for people who resort to anger and aggression in order to get their points across. We really don’t need that kind of negative energy in USAC. I don’t know how either of them can effectively represent a student body when they resort to aggression the first moment they feel criticized. Not professional at all.
Seriously…? Nicole’s microphone was malfunctioning, she wasn’t “resort[ing] to anger and aggression” at all! Maryssa had FAR more attitude. But let’s face it, you’re going to vote for Let’s Act anyways.
LOL, Nicole divisive and negative? That sweet girl who tried to shake hands/hug Maryssa at endorsements? You are the only one resorting to anger and aggression in posting this. PLEASE keep things CIVIL. So many candidates kept it classy at the debates (including ppl from BA, BU, and LA) and that goes a far way.
Yeah, I definitely agree with the other post. Nicole (and also Taylor) stood out the most. It was a breathe of fresh air from slate politics.
Nicole definitely has a great vision for the EVP!
And Taylor has great points regarding the Presidency!
*and Carly is right *not* to talk dirty on here 🙂
While I may not be voting for Carly for President I REALLY appreciate her closing remarks last night! Lets please keep things positive this week and work towards bettering UCLA, not dividing it! Thanks Carly!
I have to admit, I was very predisposed coming into this election season as I absolutely hated BU. But Carly has really opened my eyes. The fact that she took a considerable amount of time defending ALL candidates and advocating for nicer, more civil conversation really left a good impression on me. Hopefully we all can learn to be more civil in our conversations because like Carly says, we’re all trying to make things better for each other.
Regardless of who you all vote for, vote with your hearts and your beliefs, not with your affiliations. You can bet I will not be voting along party lines. I will be voting for people who I wholeheartly believe will make tangible changes, bridge slate gaps, and unify the campus.
Happy elections week and best of luck to all the individuals who have the courage to step up and try to make some changes.
