UCLA football Spring Showcase recap

UCLA football coach Jim Mora pined for a large showing of Bruin fans at the Rose Bowl on Saturday for the team’s Spring Showcase.

While Mora’s target audience was to get at least 50,000 fans out to see the Bruins’ scrimmage, the coach was happy with the product in the stands and on the field even if his crowd expectations fell short. UCLA announced an attendance of 20,000 for the game, but still for many who did not attend spring practice it was the first opportunity to see the team since last year’s loss in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl.

Rising redshirt sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley did not disappoint, leading the offense for a touchdown on its opening drive. Hundley capped off the drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to rising redshirt freshman Paul Perkins.

After the game, Mora and others spoke about the experience.

UCLA handed out an unofficial box score after the game.
