If you’re looking for a change of pace, definitely try Cha Cha Cha. Whether it’s a fun date for two or a large party of ten, Cha Cha Cha won’t disappoint. As you walk in, the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant really stands out – upbeat music plays in the background and although the lighting is dim, brightly colored lights and lanterns bring a festive and warm feel to this establishment.

I came here with a large party, and the management immediately seated us. I definitely recommend a reservation, however, because if we did not reserve in advance, there would have been a wait; the place was packed even on a weekday night. None of us really had much experience with Cuban/Jamaican food, but everyone really enjoyed his or her dishes. Some highlights: the complimentary bread – do ask for seconds…and thirds…and fourths, the fried calamari was phenomenal – just the right amount of crispy and salty, and the guava & cheese quesadilla – at first I was hesitant about this combination, but it turned out to be a great pairing of flavors. For an appetizer, the stuffed plantains were good, but it did not stand out very much. The jerk chicken was very flavorful, but the chicken was a bit dry. Also, the seafood paella was rich and didn’t skimp on the seafood, but it was quite pricey – a fact which diners should take into consideration. For dessert, the flan was very smooth and not overly sweet, but it didn’t particularly stand out.

If you don’t have a big stomach, definitely consider sharing. The portions are quite generous and two or even three people could easily share an entree. For what you pay, you definitely get your money’s worth. There is a parking lot, but it’s valet only. However, there is plenty of street parking on Melrose or the neighborhood right behind it.
